Red and White

Red and White

No, not wine... I'm sure by now you've all heard about the amazing Red and White quilt exhibition being held in New York. Infinite Variety: Three Centuries of 650 Red and White quilts. Sadly I wasn't able to go and see it myself but thanks to lots of wonderful bloggers out there posting photographs we can get an idea of what an amazing spectacle it must have been. I've gathered a list of posts with lots of lovely photos of the show. I figure this way I can pop back and have a linky look whenever I feel like a red/white quilt fix. I'm sure you'll all enjoy these mind blowing inspiring pictures too! Victoria from Bumble Beans- The exhibition is in her home town and it was her birthday during the show, what a great birthday present from the city of New York! Regan from Floating on a Quilted Cloud . Regan always makes me laugh, in fact she might just win the funniest blog on my blogroll award. I'm laughing just writing about her. Another post from Regan

Circle Work

Circle Work

I started these little circle blocks in my class with Chris Jurd on Saturday and had so much fun I kept sewing them as soon as I got home. Some are paper pieced, others just sewn together, there's a few that are to be English paper pieced and a bit of applique thrown in for luck. I've never made a sampler quilt before and am really enjoying the challenge of a learning a new pattern for each block. The circles are 6.5 inches. Silly me trimmed some a little too small but I'll do some clever cover up work somehow and no one will ever know... hmm...or maybe they'll end up as coasters. The fabrics were pulled from my stash just before heading off to my class. Sometimes I don't want to think too much about what to use, just let my intuition do it's stuff. Though I did try to pick a combo that was different from my usual jewel brights. I've included some fabrics that I bought a while ago with Gbf in mind - Space Invaders, the ghosts from Pac-Man fabrics and th

Ducks A L'Orange

Ducks A L'Orange

Look what flew into my lounge room... In true down under style ducks fly north as the weather cools. These beauties have come up from Adelaide where they were made by Deliah Devine. I've always wanted a set of 3 flying ducks and when I saw these on Etsy in all their vintage wallpaper glory I knew they were perfect for our 70's inspired lounge room!! Aren't I a lucky duck to have these lovely ducks grace my walls. I arranged trio of vases with garden fresh sprigs to make them feel welcome. Hopefully they'll hang around a while. I'll leave you with some duck jokes... these made me quack up... hee hee Q Who stole the soap A The Robber Ducky Q What do you get when you cross a duck with fireworks? A A firequacker Q What do you call a cow and 2 ducks A Milk and quackers Kat from Mummas Time to Create put this joke in her comment and it turns out it's one of GBF's favourite jokes of all time so I had to add it to the list. Q: What's the differen

Magic Wheels

Magic Wheels

My Magic Wheels top is finished! I was hoping to get some photos of it hanging artistically outside but just as I was sewing my last stitches the clouds blew in and brought the rain. At 92.5 inches the top is too long for my design wall but perfect for my bed! I probably should've ironed it before taking photos but I was too keen. So please excuse the wrinkles. I'm not quite sure how I'll quilt it yet. I'm thinking Ill stitch in the ditch the blocks then do a mixture of free motion quilting and some perle thread hand quilting. But then I find myself wondering how custom long arm quilting would look. As you all know by now I've really enjoyed using Saffron Craig's Magic Lands range. There's also some Dan Bennet's Wild Garden , Tula Pink's Eye Drops in Dusk , and of course some Sis Boom's Queen Street. It seems I always like to use some of Jennifer Paganelli's fabric s in every quilt I make. For this quilt I used Queen Street's Jodi a

I've Been Adventuring!!!

I've Been Adventuring!!!

I know I've been absent from my blog for a while but I've got a good excuse... The other day I was sitting in my sewing room thinking it would be nice to have a holiday when from the distance came the sound of tinkling chimes. All of a sudden I found myself surrounded by wonderful patterned pink, purple and green hills. "What Magical Lands are these!?!" I exclaimed. There was only one way to find out so off I skipped on an exciting adventure. I travelled through the patterned purple and blue hills, over the fields and into a forest of Magic Trees that stretched as far as the eyes could see. The leaves rustled and bustled in gentle breezes. I saw many a wonderful thing. Dear deers in purple sunsets... Twittering birds in milk and white chocolate hues Nesting owls with love in their eyes... I made wishes and sent them to the skies with a blow of a dandelion. Beetle bugs, spots and all. Soon enough my busy adventuring days started
